This is the month most of you have been waiting for to roll around since the beginning of the year! Now that June has arrived, it is time to get your home ready for the "fun in the sun" days.

  1. Clean and seal your decks. Ideally, you will need three consecutive warm and sunny days. On day one, dry out the deck. On day two, apply deck cleaner and scrub the deck. Let it dry for 24 hours. On day three, apply deck sealer. 
  2. Wash the exterior of your house. Use an ordinary garden hose and a mild detergent. Beware of the pressure washers -- they are powerful enough to force water under the siding where it may encourage mildew and rot!
  3. Exterior house work.

May is here to welcome! This new month is putting us one step closer to Summer! However, is your home ready for May? Here are some tasks to help you prep your house this month:

  1. Inspect gutters to ensure all spikes, straps, and clips are tightly fastened. Use a garden hose to flush the gutter clean.

  2. Wash windows, inside and out. You can use our homemade cleaning solutions. Just be sure to not work directly in the sun -- the solution will dry too fast and streak.

  3. Get your central air-conditioning unit ready. Be sure to it checked according to the recommendations of the unit's manufacturer. Replace the filter in the forced-air system and make sure the pump outside is clean.

  4. Have a swimming pool? It is time to open it and get it cleaned…
