Rosebank Properties and Houses

Rosebank was home to many Italian immigrant workers around the time of the Great Depression. Most of these workers were employed as diggers for New York City's expansive subway system.

Some of the homes in Rosebank are generational, meaning they've been passed down through the generations. In fact, certain families have likely resided in this neighborhood for over a century, making Rosebank a friendly and stable place to live. Since the majority of residents in Rosebank are working class and many of the homes are older - many over 100 years old - properties in this neighborhood are modest in both size and price.

Just a quick commute to Manhattan or Brooklyn, Rosebank offers numerous community events and places to visit. Every October, Friends of Rosebank - a community group - sponsor a 3-mile race called the Mark Langone Columbus Day Run for the Roses. The money raised from the run goes to a different charity every year. Alice Austin was a photographer and her Rosebank childhood home is now a museum. The Alice Austin House is located at 2 Hylan Blvd. Another museum here is the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, an 1840 Gothic Revival. This museum was the home of Antonio Meucci, an inventor who is believed to be the real inventor of the telephone.
