Public School 21

"Where the Love for Learning Begins!"

The school's building for P.S. 21 was constructed in 1897 at the current address of 168 Hooker Place. It was designated as The Elm Park in 1916. It was later renown as The Margaret Emery – Elm Park School, after Margaret P. Emery, a member of Community School Board 31. Though the name “Elm Park” begs to differ, the school is actually located in the neighborhood of Port Richmond.

Public School 21 teaches children from kindergarten up until the fifth grade, with classrooms for special education. It has a number of unique programs for its students, including Balanced Literacy, Larson’s Computer Math, Family Library Day, and Writing Spot. It also has a number of after-school programs, such as cheerleading, talent shows, Project Create, and Latch Key.
