Public School 60

“We Focus on Learning”

The Alice Austen School, also known more commonly as Public School 60, was built around the mid-1970s. This school was named after Alice Austen, a famous Staten Island influential woman photographer for her time. Public School 60 still stands today where it was originally built at 55 Merrill Avenue, in the Bulls Head neighborhood.

Public School 60 provides education to children that are in grades Kindergarten through fifth. They offer mixed and separated special education classes and will also be offering the Gifted & Talented program for students. Just like all of Staten Island's schools, they offer programs and extracurricular activities for the students. Some of the special programs are bookmaking, parent-child workshops, peer tutoring, foreign language, and Book-in-a-Bag. Some of the extracurricular activities are Girl Scouts, art programs, after school classes, and more!
