- Frozen pipes are the main household problem. Do not let your pipes freeze up! Check the pipes and drains around your house for leaks. When certain there are no links, clean the drains with a vinegar and baking soda mixture from our Homemade Cleaning Products list.
- To keep valves from sticking, turn all the water valves off and then on again. Be sure to check every single faucet and valve, even the ones located outside.
- Inspect the grout and caulk around your bathtubs, sinks, and showers. Chip out cracked grout and replace the missing grout. If the caulk is discolored, remove it and replace it with fresh, mildew-resistant caulk.
- Musty closet odors can be reduced or eliminated by removing the closet's contents and washing the walls with a chlorine-free bleach or water and baking soda.
