The first impression is always the most important, so you must make the best of it. Does your porch live up to its welcoming expectations? Here are some things to keep in mind when dressing up the front of your home.
The first thing you should focus on is your front door. Make sure you get a style that makes the right statement and will be worth your investment. We recommend fiberglass doors because they will last longer, and once stained, it will look like real wood. Make sure everything matches as well. The door should match perfectly with the rest of the exterior. Also be sure the door and window trims are all the same color.
You can even play with color. Having a colorful doorway creates a warm greeting. Go bright and fun with yellow or sophisticated with blue. Just make sure the color patterns match, as mentioned above.
Try to add seating no matter what the size of your front porch is. A bistro set or even a cushioned bench will do the trick. By having a place to sit, guests will feel welcome when approaching your home.
Finally, take advantage of the seasons. Add plants to dress up the entrance. For our current season, fall is perfect for mum flowers and pumpkins! When winter comes, add the evergreen plants that will look dazzling with snow. And when spring and summer roll back around, flowers will do the trick.
