The development of the rentals complex to Staten Island’s North Shore neighborhood continues to gain interest as it releases a teaser website last month: http://www.urby.com. Originally named URL Staten Island, it now goes by the name URBY Staten Island and is bringing 900 new waterfront rentals to Stapleton.
The construction is located on U.S Navy homeport known as 7 & 8 Navy Pier Court and is being developed by David Barry’s Ironstate. A Dutch architectural firm, Concrete is working on this residential property. The units available are studios, one-, and two-bedroom apartments for rent, designed to make life easy. Each rent features built-in storage, custom closets, washer, dryer, and oversized windows to allow in light and the views.
The location for Urby makes it convenient for commuters. The Staten Island Ferry Terminal is only 5 minutes away, leaving residents with access to various MTA Staten Island bus lines or a boat ride to Manhattan. The Staten Island Railroad is another option, and the Staten Island Expressway is only 10 minutes away
Urby will include amenities such as an residents garden and lounge, a communal kitchen with a resident chef, 300 parking spots, and a green waterfront esplanade. There will also be a fitness center, outdoor pool, WiFi access, bicycle storage, and video intercom. There will also be 35,000 square feet of retail space. A New York City based coffee chain, Coffeed is the first establishment to sign up for a space there. They are a locally-sourced, charity-minded cafe and specialty coffee company whose mission is to support the community around their store.
Pricing for the units and dates of occupancy are expected to be announced soon. Leasing on some of the units are expected to begin in Spring for the new generation of apartment seekers.
