Stay busy this summer by visiting and exploring some of our amazing Greenbelt parks. There are many events happening all summer long that are free and active!
Cleaning and Maintaining Westerleigh Park
Gather every Saturday morning from 9:00am to noon at Westerleigh Park to help in maintaining the beauty of the park with raking, planting, and gardening. There will even be coffee and donuts for the volunteers.
Independence Day Celebration
Enjoy your Fourth of July for the annual viewing of fireworks displays at the Alice Austen Park. The event begins at 6pm.
Movies in the Park: Jurassic Park
Bring a blanket, or towel, and enjoy this thrilling movie outside under the night sky. This movie will be held at Willowbrook Park from 8:30pm to 10:30pm on July 11th.
Movies in the Park: Earth to Echo
This nighttime movie viewing will be at Westerleigh Park from 8:30 to 10:30pm on July 14th.
Summer Movie Night: The Rescuers Down Under
On July 21st, from 8:30pm to 11pm, watch this classic movie at Westervelt Community Garden.
Swamp Madness Hike
From 10am to noon on July 15th, join the 1.5 hour hike beginning at the Greenbelt Nature Center to Buttonbush Swamp.
Summerstage at Clove Lake Park
Enjoy ouse music from Jellybean Benitez, DJ Street Tech, and D-Train on July 29th, at 7pm.
Dog Days of Summer Hike
At High Rock Park (200 Nevada Avenue) from 10 to 11:30 am on August 2nd, hike with your beloved canine pet.
Discover Day at Freshkills Park
Discover the trails and hills of the landfill-to-park project. Enjoy the amazing view of the Manhattan skyline at the top of the hilly hike or join the kayak program in the main creek waterways. To gain entrance, meet at 300 Wild Avenue to be shuffled to the park! This event is on August 2nd and runs from 11am to 4pm.
Trail of the Month: Pink Trail
A slow pace hike on the Pink Trail through the northwestern portion of Greenbelt and Freshkills Park. The event takes place at the Native Plant Center and is from 11am to 1pm.
Movie in the Park: An American Tail
This movie is being held at Westervelt Park from 8pm to 10pm on August 18th.
Splendid Summer Hike
End the summer with one last hike event at the Greenbelt Nature Center from 10am to noon on August 29th.
